Celebrating the 2012 Olympics . Leicester new walk museum commissioned imaan collections to have "the petal" showcased at their museum. IC was honoured to have this opportunity to be placed in British history for fusion fashion!

SOPHIA LEADS MUSLIM FASHION REVOLUTION

A fusion of western fashions and traditional Islamic dress has created a new era of garments for Muslim women Leading the clothing Revolution is Leicester designer Sophia Kara whos brightly coloured jilbabs with unusual patterns are proving a hit worldwide. She is changing the look of the traditional black full length garment but keeping designs in keeping with the Islamic heritage.

The dresses are aslo proving popular with non-Muslim women who look for more modest clothes. Now the collection has attracted international attention and praise.

Catwalk first for Modern Islamic fashion

A new fashion business designing contemporary and stylish Islamic clothing has sent its first collection on to the catwalk. imaan collections set up by Sophia Kara, held the fashion show at new venue The Empire, the former St Marks Church, in Belgrave Leicester. Described as designed for the "modest, modern" woman, the collection features loose fitting garments to be worn over western clothes.

Ms Kara, the company’s chief designer said: "The idea behind this luxury collection is to enable modern women to remain respectful of their religion while still able to flaunt their own personal style". The venture was shortlisted for a national business plan award last year. Imaan Collections made the finals.

 

Islamic Fashion in award draw

A Fashion venture aimed at designing stylish and contemporary islamic clothing has been shortlisted for a national business award. Imaan Collections, based in Leicester is on the finals of the Handbag.com Barclays Business Plan Awards,with the winners anounced on Monday. The venture,developed by 32 year old Sophia Kara form Leicester, is one of the four in the running for the Outstanding Contribution to the Community category.

If it wins, the business will get a year long support package. "Imaan Collections strives to be able to offer customers something that is currently under developed within the High St,Imaan collections provide the modern Muslim woman with the stylish fashionable clothing they have been demanding for too long. I'm so pleased my idea has been recognised as a business success"
